We’re looking for summer interns! Are you a high school student who wants to learn leadership skills, help your community, and collaborate on interesting projects with other teens? Apply to work with us this summer! New Castle United for Youth is a community-based youth prevention coalition that works to reduce substance use in our community through collaboration, education, positive messaging and supporting substance free activities. In past years, NCUFY summer interns have learned about public health and substance abuse prevention and applied that knowledge to projects like peer communications, mental health support and emphasizing the importance of community connections. Summer interns will have the opportunity to work with our Youth Coalition Coordinator Ally Kuhn on projects focused on wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, youth prevention, and peer and community support. Interns will be invited to join our youth coalition with the opportunity to have a continued impact on our community while learning valuable communication, branding and project management skills.
The NCUFY summer internship work will be divided into two sessions to allow participants flexibility in their scheduling. The first session runs from July 6 through July 22 and the second session runs from July 25 through August 10. Applicants may apply for one or both sessions. This summer’s internship program will be a hybrid of in person and virtual gatherings and some independent work.
Interns will be expected to participate in an opening in person meeting to get to know one another and plan for the session and attend an end of internship in person meeting to present their work and celebrate their achievements. There will be six to eight group internship work sessions on Zoom and interns will need to complete preparatory work and/or project tasks outside of group meeting hours. Interns who successfully complete a session by logging 15 or more hours and completing assigned tasks will receive internship compensation of $150. We can accommodate up to ten interns per session.
