Are you starting your freshman year at Greeley?

Looking for tips and advice as you transition

from middle school to high school?

The New Castle United for Youth Summer Interns made this survival guide just for you!

The goal of our project is to help incoming ninth graders feel more confident about starting at Greeley. We want to encourage students to have a positive mindset about their transition to high school and the new experiences they’re going to have. To do that, we tried to talk about a wide variety of topics related to starting high school, including friendships, workload, sports, clubs, and more. We wanted to make sure everyone who had a question could have it answered!

We hope that the resources we made will reassure new students and give them some insight from current Greeley students. We think that our materials are especially helpful because we have the perspectives of both incoming freshman and upperclassmen in our internship group, which allows us to look at the transition to high school from both sides.

We hope that our project can be a tool for the community to utilize not just this year, but for many years to come! Best of luck as you start your time at Horace Greeley High School!

Q&A Cards

We made these Q&A cards about the four topics that came up most during our brainstorming sessions: workload, clubs, lunch, and athletics. Our goal was to answer a few big questions about each topic in a quick, easy to understand format. We also included QR codes that lead to helpful places online for each topic. We hope that these cards can be an easy way to get answers to common Greeley questions and concerns!
