Are you looking for new ways to get involved with the New Castle community? Why not join the NCUFY Youth Coalition? Our members meet weekly with Youth Coalition Coordinator Ally Kuhn to work on projects they’re passionate about.

The Youth Coalition gets to decide what topics they want to focus on for these projects, like mental health, the transition to high school, activities for the New Castle Recreation Department, what it’s like to grow up in New Castle, and so much more!

If you’re interested in joining, send us an email at the links below!

Reverse Bucket List

To acknowledge the end of the 2022-23 school year, the Youth Coalition created the Reverse Bucket List, which served as an opportunity for high schoolers to reflect on all of the wonderful things they have accomplished over the past year. The goal of this project was to shift the focus away from stressing about finals, grades, and next steps, and to remind everyone how important it is to take the time to celebrate the big and small moments. NCUFY is so proud of everyone in the New Castle community, and we encourage you to take a moment to celebrate yourself!

Mental Health Awareness Month Messaging Service

For May 2023, the Youth Coalition came up with a list of ways to support both their own mental health and the mental health of their peers and community members. Inspired by mental health support lines, the Youth Coalition created a month long daily messaging service, where people could sign up to receive a daily message from NCUFY. These messages covered a wide range of topics, including fun facts, self care advice, information about clubs and goings-on at Greeley, mental health resources, and more!

Guide to Healthy Resolutions

For the 2022 holiday season, the Youth Coalition took some time to reflect on the practice of making resolutions and how to approach that practice in a healthy, constructive way. After doing so, they created a Guide to Healthy Resolutions, which provides a framework for creating and maintaining resolutions while also protecting your mental health. The goal of this project was to help reframe how you think about resolutions, how to stay on top of your goals for the year, and how to feel accomplished as the year progresses!

Greeley Survival Guide

The transition from middle school to high school can be intimidating – that’s why the Youth Coalition created a Horace Greeley Survival Guide! By providing some insight from current Greeley students, NCUFY hoped to help incoming ninth graders feel more confident about starting at Greeley. With both an overarching guide and a set of Q&A cards about specific topics, this project can help new Greeley students to keep a positive outlook and feel ready to take on high school!

Mental Health Awareness Month Calendar

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. For May 2022, the NCUFY Youth Coalition created a calendar full of mental health advice, challenges, ideas, and projects. This calendar was presented to the community on May 1, 2022 at our Shine a Light on Mental Health kickoff event.

Recreation Department Summerfest Celebration

This year, we had the chance to work together with the New Castle Rec Department on Summerfest, an end of school year celebration. NCUFY youth coalition members volunteered at our awesome tie dye t-shirt booth, featuring custom Summerfest 2022 t-shirts designed by an NCUFY intern!

Community Day 2022

NCUFY Summer Interns worked to create a project for Community Day 2022. They decided to have community members each decorate a block with something they love about the Chappaqua community, which was then added to a giant tower. By the end of community day, our tower was more than 6 feet tall! Together, we can build a strong community!
