There are so many ways to get involved with New Castle United for Youth! Apply to be a Summer Intern or join our coalition Youth Council and work with other local teens during the school year. You can even pick NCUFY as your Senior Experience during your final semester at Greeley- the possibilities are endless!
The NCUFY Summer Youth Internship is a great opportunity for teens to learn and improve their leadership, collaboration, and communication skills. For the past 5 summers, the internship has catered to kids ranging from 14-17, allowing many different ideas and opinions to be heard and explored over the course of each session. Summer Interns work together to help reduce substance use in our community through projects relating to wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, and youth prevention. Some of our biggest projects have been participating at community day events, creating a vaping-themed escape room at the local town camp, and creating fun projects like cookbooks and podcasts (which can be found here on our website!).
With the challenges brought by the pandemic, the internship was virtual for summer 2020 which allowed interns to work on promoting healthy living from home. Before the pandemic, interns were able to attend informative conferences such as the Youth to Youth Eastern States Conference in July. Even though the pandemic has closed this conference, we hope to provide other informative sessions for interns and continue to use their help as we try and serve New Castle this summer. Each session is spread throughout 2 weeks, totaling 6-8 individual meetings. At the end of each session you will earn $120. So feel free to sign up for one or all three!
Greeley teens who want to work with NCUFY during the school year can get involved by joining our Youth Council. The Youth Group meets weekly and works on a variety of projects throughout the year, focusing on wellness, healthy choices, and building community connections. Examples of projects worked on by the Youth Group during the 2020-21 school year include virtual trivia nights, youth surveys, and infographics about healthy decision making.
Greeley seniors can choose NCUFY for their Senior Experience internship. Some of our past summer interns have chosen to work with NCUFY as Senior Experience Interns, completing past projects and helping to plan new ways to engage the community and spread messages promoting healthy teen choices.
