New Castle United for Youth, a community coalition funded by a federal Drug Free Communities grant, is looking to hire a new part time Coalition Coordinator. Are you an enthusiastic person interested in engaging our community in youth substance use prevention work? This part time (15-20 hours per week) paid consultant position will give you the opportunity to support youth physical and mental health and promote good decision making while building connections within the New Castle community.
The Coalition Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day to day efforts of the coalition, for keeping track of coalition strategies, achievements, data and finances, and most importantly for motivating coalition members to make progress towards coalition goals. To be successful in shepherding NCUFY through Years 6-10 of the DFC grant, an ideal coordinator will be willing to work to make new community connections, be a cheerleader building enthusiasm and drive among existing coalition members, and be skilled at guiding people to consensus. Candidates should have some familiarity with public health and/or youth substance use prevention, or be able to see the broad picture behind individual decisions surrounding substance use. Training in the DFC public health model and Strategic Prevention Framework will be provided.
