This week (October 23-31, 2021) is Red Ribbon Week! Red Ribbon Week raises awareness about substance abuse and the importance of making safe, informed choices. Red Ribbon Week is a great time for parents to talk to your kids about the importance of making safe, informed choices when it comes to alcohol and other drugs. In honor of Red Ribbon Week, NCUFY has arranged for a one month license for Chappaqua parents to watch the film, which includes access to the excellent parent discussion guide.
Don’t Wait is a short movie about how important it is to have conversations about substance use, with an emphasis on how to have those challenging discussions with kids of all ages. Have you ever wondered about how or when to talk to your kids about alcohol and other drugs? Don’t Wait features experts and parents talking about the importance of conversations about substances, with an emphasis on how to talk about alcohol and other drugs with kids of different ages. Use this form to receive access to the film and a parent discussion guide.
You can also access the Don’t Wait Discussion Guide here. We like this discussion guide because of how thorough and varied the advice it contains is. There’s a discussion section for parents, a question and prevention activities section for parents to use to engage their kids, and four different advice sections for how to talk to kids of all ages, from preschool to high school.
The NCUFY Don’t Wait license will expire on November 22, 2021, but you can pay to watch the film at any time for $10. We hope you find this to be a useful resource as you navigate some of the tricky topics that come with raising happy, successful and resilient children!
