The end of the school year is always a busy time in our community and NCUFY youth were no exception this year. Our three Greeley Senior Experience interns wrapped up a busy five weeks of internship work. They spent a bunch of time helping to prepare for this summer’s internship program, helping to package last summer’s work for the website and creating other material to help raise awareness of the Coalition and its work. Interested in learning more about NCUFY and what it’s like to do Senior Experience with the Coalition? Their final project Flipgrid presentation can be seen on our website.
Our Senior Experience interns also played a role in the first ever Around the World Basketball tournament for middle schoolers, jointly sponsored by NCUFY and the New Castle Recreation Department. Registration for this event filled quickly and despite some challenging weather forecasts over 30 kids in grades 5-8 turned out for a fun evening with some friendly competition, snacks and a DJ to keep things bouncing. This event was a great way to kick off a fun and healthy summer and to use the Town’s new basketball court to foster a sense of community and connection for our middle schoolers. Given the success of this event, we’ll be looking for more partnership opportunities with the Recreation Department and other fun ways to engage our middle school population.
