For the third year running, NCUFY is pleased to partner with Horace Greeley High School and its SADD Club. This partnership brings a speaker with an empowering message promoting positive life choices to present to students early in the school year. This year’s speaker is Shaun Derik. Shaun is a motivational speaker whose “Use Your INSIDE Voices” presentation uses a blend of dynamic message delivery, comedy and live music to motivate and energize his audience.

In his presentation, Shaun recounts his burdensome years in school and how finding his voice gave him relevance, confidence, and the endurance to say “nah” to unhealthy influences and “yes” to things that were most helpful to his future. Shaun’s talk will educate students on what are our “Inside Voices” and how can they help us make healthy decisions, including choices involving alcohol and other drug use. Shaun’s presentation also will focus on the development of healthy peer relationships by encouraging students to think about the ways in which their friends’ choices influence them and the way in which their own choices affect others. 

The Greeley SADD Club has used the Shaun Derik presentation as a building block for their larger efforts around Red Ribbon Week and has come up with their own slogan for the advice they wish to share with the Greeley student body – “ Be A Dependable Friend”.
