COVID-19 has forced our teachers and students to get creative with ways to continue school traditions like Wellness Week. This year sees Seven Bridges and Bell Middle Schools join forces for virtual Wellness Week! Middle school staff, including NCUFY sponsored Middle School Prevention Specialist Valerie Sutton will guide students through wellness challenges and zoom sessions for kids to interact virtually and find ways to practice wellness in these trying times. There are five wellness themed days. The week kicks off with Mindful Monday and continues with Thoughtful Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Thankful Thursday and Fitness Friday. Each day brings new people hosting zooms, kids get to spend time with teachers and professionals for a full wellness experience. Each day is dedicated to teaching kids the importance of staying healthy even when stuck at home.
Mindful Monday allows kids interact with Social Worker, Ms. Bisceglia, Prevention Specialist, Ms. Sutton, and Physical Education teacher Ms. Nannariello to talk about strategies to reduce stress and practice mindfulness.
Thoughtful Tuesday has kids connect with their inner artist with Art teachers, Ms. Pozzuto and Ms. McDonough and have the opportunity to share their art.
Wellness Wednesday brings Dawn Bradbury and Barrie Radbill to teach the kids about good nutrition and answer any questions on the topic.
Thankful Thursday features the kids join Bobby Gellert to explore the importance of gratitude, sleep, nature, and laughter
Fitness Friday wraps up with Dawn Bradbury hosting a live boot camp for the kids to try a fun and simple workout routine at home.
All these days come with daily challenges for the kids to complete and send in photos or videos for a chance to win a prize.
Thanks to Greeley Senior Experience Intern Kate Stingone for interviewing Valerie Sutton and bringing us this post!
