Youth Mental Health Upcoming Events for Parents

While COVID has heightened our awareness of youth mental health needs, the topic is always an important one for parents. NCUFY wants to share with you information about two upcoming programs designed to provide parents with important information to help understand and protect their children’s mental health.

On Monday, January 24, 2022 at 7:30 pm, K.N.O.W. 2 Prevent is hosting a virtual presentation titled “Typical Teen Moodiness or An Emerging Mental Health Challenge? A Primer for Parents and Caregivers” with Diane DiGiacomo, M.D.  Dr. DiGiacomo will share vital information to help parents and caring adults understand the differences between typical adolescent behavior and signs of a more serious mental health challenge, along with tips on how to respond, including how to access appropriate professional support when needed. The event is free, advance registration is required. On Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 7 pm the Bedford Playhouse is hosting the next installment of its “Let’s Talk Mental Wellness” series, “Anxiety & Adolescence: Learning to Listen More to Your Teen.” This virtual discussion and Q&A features Anne Marie Albano and Nina Korelitz Matza, co-hosts of the “Listen More” podcast. Their discussion will focus on why our teens are so stressed and what parents might do to encourage a genuine and optimistic path towards adulthood.
